Why should I vote 'Yes' for the Senior Services Levy?

Transportation.jpg

The current $1.3 million Senior Services levy expires in December 2026. To keep critical support in place for older adults in Clermont County, voters must approve a renewal on May 5.

If the levy does not pass, Clermont Senior Services will be forced to close, and supportive assistance will end; leaving many residents without the help they need to remain safe and independent at home. Notably, taxpayers have not been asked for an increase in 20 years.

The need is growing.

Adults age 80 and older are the fastest-growing segment of the U.S. population, driven in large part by the aging Baby Boomer generation. Here in Clermont County, older adults (60+) represent nearly 25% of the total population, and that share will continue to rise, increasing demand for services in the years ahead. The county population age 85 and older is estimated to increase by 32% between 2025 and 2040.

Local Businesses

When seniors have reliable help, family members don’t have to miss work for routine appointments. That means fewer missed shifts, less stress, and a stronger workforce for Clermont County employers.

Caregivers

Whether adult children live across the country or right here in Clermont County, support services provide peace of mind. Families can keep working and managing their own households, knowing someone is checking in and helping care for Mom or Dad.

Seniors

Most of the older adults we serve are over 70, living on limited incomes, often alone, and with little or no family support nearby. Many just need a little extra help to remain at home; where they’re happier, healthier, and more independent.

Taxpayers

In-home support is a smart investment. The cost of nursing home care can exceed $10,000 per month, while in-home services are often a fraction of that cost, and it’s helping older adults stay safe at home and helping control long-term public costs.

Who benefits from the Senior Services levy?

We all do.

Customer Testimonies

Here's what citizens of Clermont County have to say about Senior Services:

"Clermont Senior Services is one of the best examples of your tax dollar being used in the best possible way. The Adult Day Services have very special people as customers and exceptionally special people who help out and oversee the customers."

"Very fortunate to live in a county that offers so much for Seniors. My mom loved the time she spent there and built beautiful friendships. She has now passed. But so grateful she was a part of Clermont Senior Services."

"I am a nurse case manager for the Emergency Department at the VA Medical Center in Cincinnati. I just wanted to thank your service for working with me and Clermont Veteran Services to get a veteran's elderly wife home from the hospital when the veteran was admitted. Your kindness and willingness to help on a moment's notice does not go unseen, and it is so deeply appreciated. Thank you for what you do."
